Assistant Professor of Cellular Dynamics


The Department of Biology of ETH Zurich (www.biol.ethz.ch) invites applications for the above-mentioned position at the Institute of Biochemistry (www.bc.biol.ethz.ch) located at the campus ETH Zurich Hoenggerberg.

Applicants should have an excellent track record in cellular and molecular biology or related fields. The new assistant professor is expected to develop a strong research programme addressing the function and mechanism of dynamic cellular processes. The specific research areas of interest include, but are not limited to, intracellular organisation and logistics (such as cytoskeletal dynamics), membrane biology (such as organelle interactions or force transduction across membranes), nuclear biology (such as chromatin organisation and dynamics), cell signalling, cell division, or cellular diversity and plasticity. Applicants studying non-classical model systems or using interdisciplinary approaches are specifically encouraged to apply. At the assistant professor level, commitment to teaching and the ability to lead a research group are expected.

Assistant professorships have been established to promote the careers of younger scientists. The initial appointment is for four years with the possibility of renewal for a three-year period.

Professor of Environmental Policy


The Department of Environmental Systems Science (www.usys.ethz.ch) and the Department of Humanities, Social and Political Sciences (www.gess.ethz.ch) at ETH Zurich invite applications for the above-mentioned position.

The successful candidate should have an excellent publication record in social science and interdisciplinary research, focusing on design, implementation, and outcomes of policy instruments to address environmental problems, including the role of political institutions. The new professor will focus on land-use change, terrestrial resource allocation, water allocation and quality, or environmental issues associated with urban and regional development. Teaching will contribute to the social science curriculum in Environmental Sciences, with an emphasis on analyzing the drivers and outcomes of public policies. Generally, at ETH Zurich undergraduate level courses are taught in German or English and graduate level courses are taught in English.

Professor of Steel and Composite Structures


The Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering (www.baug.ethz.ch) at ETH Zurich within the Institute of Structural Engineering (www.ibk.ethz.ch) invites applications for the above-mentioned position.

The professorship covers teaching and research in the broad field of steel and composite structures. Particular focus is on the performance of steel and composite structures and performance improvement through innovative design and construction solutions and the use of advanced materials. Furthermore, the position entails providing advice and support to industry and authorities. Interests in large-scale experimental research, numerical simulation and digital fabrication as well as strong practical experience in conceptualisation and design of steel and composite structures are welcome.

Candidates should hold a doctoral degree in civil or structural engineering and have a strong structural engineering background. The new professor is expected to offer an attractive teaching programme in both the Bachelor's (German or English) and Master's degree courses (English) and remain committed to excellence in education as well as developing, applying and promoting modern teaching methods.
